Renwick Gates

Washington D.C. has wonderful holiday decorations and while I know the holidays are now over, I can't resist showing one more display at the cast iron gates to the Enid A. Haupt Gardens (beautiful gardens, btw) at the old Smithsonian Building. These gates facing Independence Avenue are called the Renwick Gates and are based on a drawing by James A. Renwick, Jr., architect of the Smithsonian Castle Building.  I loved how simple the decoration was--all natural, and just two materials, boxwood and some type of red berries.  Love those balls of red berries!
