Quilts, Mulch, and Bacon

Guess what our favorite color is? We are ready for St. Patrick's Day!
Just got home from a quick overnight trip to Lancaster County to see a quilt show, visit with Evelyn, and make a few stops at some of our favorite places before returning home this afternoon. Yesterday we got to the farm about noon and headed to downtown Lancaster with Evie and her daughter Deb for lunch at Rachel's Creperie (yummo), and then to the quilt show at the Lancaster Convention Center. There were some amazing quilts, I mean really amazing quilts, and lots of vendors. We hadn't been to the show for several years, so it was fun to see it again, and see what is new in the world of quilting. Here are a few of my favorites.

This cupcake and tea quilt was one of our favs
Love the colors and the fern border

This morning after a breakfast of some farm fresh eggs and Irish soda bread, toasted and buttered, we headed out to a few of our favorite places, Weaver's for bacon, Landyshade for 10 bags of mulch (yes, we're crazy, we buy mulch in PA and haul it home to VA), Ken's to look at their plants (still pretty early in PA for plants, but we like to look), and Wilbur's Chocolates in Lititz for some Easter treats.

I've decided this is the job I want when I retire

So many buds...

We also stopped at an Amish farm that Prudy had read about, Misty Creek Goat Dairy, where they make and sell their own goat cheese. We tasted several varieties--they were delicious--and we made some new friends...

Quick trip, but we'll be back the first weekend in May for our annual plant-buying weekend at the nurseries in Lancaster County. Now that will be a jam-packed weekend. We race around to all the Amish nurseries we know and stop at random farms that advertise annuals and perennials for sale. We have our favorites places to buy, but it's always fun to find a new little greenhouse selling something special. At least we've already bought our mulch, so that frees up some space in the cars!

We saw lots of freshly plowed fields in Lancaster County
