Beach Gardens

When we were at the beach last weekend, we stayed at Gillian's new place in Lewes, and we got to explore the town of Lewes a little. After breakfast at Notting Hill coffee shop, we walked around and I snooped and took pictures of houses and gardens. I love the quaint colorful houses in town, and the neat gardens tucked into small spaces and narrow alleys. Lewes is an historic seaport on the Delaware Bay, and many of the buildings date to the 17th century.

The house below was my favorite, with its lime green shutters, white picket fence,  and purple flowers.

I love little alleyways--would love to plant a shady spot like this.

And of course I couldn't resist this cake shop...
