Mums in Town
Ok, so on my walk this morning I sneaked a few pictures of the house up the road with the mums. Their front door was open so I didn't want to linger, but aren't the mums so pretty? This guy has a great garden, lots of interesting flowers and shrubs, you can tell he is a gardener. In fact, the garden writer for The Washington Post, Adrian Higgins, wrote an article last winter about this guy and his greenhouse where he grows and tends to his collection of more than 1,500 orchids. While listening to opera in the greenhouse! Perfect. In the spring, his entire front lawn is filled with crocus--what a sight that is. I used to make my kids walk by there every spring to see the crocus blooming. I know he grows vegetable plants for people in town--he used to grow the tomato plants for my friend Bill Moffett.
And I thought these asters he had were pretty too. Wonder what variety they are? Love the purple.

Fabulous. I need to get some mums this weekend. For $20 you can really get a bang for your buck, even if you toss them later. Which I usually do.
