It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

I put up my Moravian Star today, December 1. I love it, having first seen one outside a neighbor's house at Christmas time several years ago. I found this one in Lancaster County, and now there are several of us in the neighborhood who hang Moravian Stars--a symbol of Advent, of the star over Bethlehem, and "the star of promise, the star of fulfillment, the star of hope." (From the Moravian Church of North America.)

I'm starting to get in the Christmas spirit, especially after walking through my neighborhood at night. Seriously, everybody has big displays this year,  and tons of lights. It's kind of nice.  My star is nice, too! And I still have my little snowman to put out...so we're not total losers.

  2. The Moravian star looks good, but more lights is always better, Ellen. Forget tasteful and go for some tacky lawn ornaments this year. Give the gardening committee something to think about as they police the hood.
